Dinesh Karthik Shares What It Meant to Win a Trophy with RCB
Dinesh Karthik has won a number of trophies in his career. The last trophy which he won as a member of the coaching staff came for the Royal Challengers Bengaluru. Karthik reflected on RCB's win and how it feels the most to him even after winning the IPL earlier with Mumbai Indians.
Royal Challengers Bengaluru won its first ever IPL title in the 2025 season. Unfortunately, this came just a season after Dinesh Karthik announced his retirement from the Indian Premier League. After retiring from the tournament, he decided to stick with the RCB team and joined their support staff as a mentor and guide the team to break its title wait.
It should be noted that Dinesh Karthik has himself won the IPL before and he was also a part of the World Cup winning team. While he won two tournaments as a player, he won the IPL trophy with the Royal Challengers Bengaluru as a part of the support staff.
Recently, Dinesh Karthik talked about his experience of winning the trophy with RCB. He said, “I've been part of the world cup win and MI win as a player but this RCB trophy win just tops them because the fact fans waited for 18 years, watching Virat Kohli in tears, watching the greatness of AB de Villiers and Chris Gayle around. That was an amazing feeling.”
Our Take
Dinesh Karthik has now officially placed the World Cup win to the second spot. The reason why he put RCB's title win at the top was the number of emotions which surrounded the team's win. RCB went without a trophy for 17 seasons and they were able to win the title for the first time in the 18th edition. Watching greats such as Virat Kohli, AB de Villiers, and more, lose their character and breakdown after the win was a moment to cherish for RCB fans and Dinesh Karthik.
