Nitish Rana lost his wicket in some of the most unusual ways in the IPL. He attempted to play a shot against Noor Ahmad, but mistimed the ball and handed over a catch. At the same time when the catch was taken, the bails were also lit up, highlighting that he may have hit his stumps too.

There is just one way in which a batsman could be dismissed on the same ball. He cannot be bowled or caught on the same delivery, as it would be a rare double wicket. But this has happened with Nitish Rana in the recent clash against Chennai Super Kings, which has triggered a debate.

Nitish Rana attempted to play a shot against Noor Ahmad in the 10th over. In his sweep shot, he was unable to get the timing right and lost his wicket being caught by Kartik Sharma. But at the same time, the replays also showed that the bails of the stumps were dislodged right after Nitish Rana played the sweep shot against Noor Ahmad.

The official ruling confirmed that Rana was caught out. But looking at the stumps, the reactions have been mixed. Some reports claim that the bails went off due to the high wind speed in Delhi at that time. The others also claim that it was due to Sanju Samson, as he might have had contact with the stumps.

Our Take

The viral videos which show visuals of Nitish Rana's wicket confirm that the bails were dislodged. But it still remains unclear whether it happened due to Rana hitting the stumps or was it a contact by Sanju Samson? The official record has confirmed that Rana was dismissed as a caught out, and the BCCI is yet to react on the viral videos which shows the bails being dislodged. It remains to be seen what happens with Nitish after this double wicket controversy.
