Royal Challengers Bengaluru became two time IPL champions by defeating Gujarat Titans in the finals. Gujarat Titans posted a competitive total on board which gave them a strong start. But Virat Kohli helped RCB to chase it down easily and win consecutive IPL seasons.

‌Pitch and Weather

The match will be played at the Narendra Modi Stadium, which is expected to be a batting paradise with even bounce and good carry for stroke makers. Fast bowlers will be able to get some movement early in the game under the lights, but the dew factor will make it difficult to defend scores. Spinners won't succeed with sharp turns, as variations are needed at this venue. Weather conditions for the final clash are hot and humid with clear skies.

Toss

Royal Challengers Bengaluru wins the toss and decides to bowl first, aiming to chase down the target when the dew arrives.

Match Report

Gujarat Titans had an amazing start, as Sai Sudharsan went on to attack Bhuvneshwar Kumar and Jacob Duffy in the powerplay. Shubman Gill was able to anchor well, as Jos Buttler attacked Hazlewood which helped GT to score 67/1 in six overs. RCB was able to fight back with the help of Krunal Pandya and Romario Shepherd in the middle overs.
Krunal Pandya dismissed Buttler at 42, while Shepherd took the wickets of Washington Sundar and Jason Holder in quick succession. Gill was able to continue his knock as he reached a 50, while Rahul Tewatia gave a late acceleration. In the 18th over, Josh Hazlewood dismissed Shubman Gill for 76 with a slower delivery. Although Tewatia scored some boundaries, GT finished at 191/7, less than what they expected in the powerplay.
In reply, Royal Challengers Bengaluru didn't get a good start as they lost Venkatesh Iyer early. But Devdutt Padikkal and Virat Kohli built a 96-run stand, which made the team look strong. Kohli was able to rotate strike, as Padikkal targeted Rashid Khan and Sai Kishore. Rashid Khan changed the momentum for a while by dismissing Devdutt Padikkal and Rajat Patidar in the same over.
Still, Virat Kohli stayed at the crease to handle the pressure well. The team needed 38 runs off 3 overs, when Tim David smashed two sixes against Kagiso Rabada and Virat Kohli finished the chase with a four against Prasidh Krishna. RCB scored 194/5 with 4 balls remaining, which helped them to win their second IPL title.

Player of the Match

Virat Kohli wins the Player of the Match award for scoring 89 runs off 58 balls, which helped RCB to chase down the target even when wickets fell quickly in the middle overs.
