Manchester City star Nicolas Otamendi is set to stay at the club despite rumors linking him with a move away from the Etihad Stadium. The Argentine does have three years left on his current deal with the club and having already lost Vincent Kompany, this will be a big boost for Pep Guardiola.

Nicolas Otamendi has been at Manchester City for the last four years making a total of 112 appearances in the Premier League and has helped the club win two league titles. However, the Argentine has fallen out of favour last season with the arrival of Aymeric Laporte, making only 14 appearances.

However, with the departure of Kompany, it has also left a hole in Manchester City’s backline before the start of the upcoming season. But the English outfit have not signed anyone as a replacement, as of yet, with Pep Guardiola seemingly ready to convert Fernandinho into a center-back.

The 33-year-old has operated there last season and did relatively well. But now the Sun has reported that Nicolas Otamendi is set to stay, rejecting interest from elsewhere. He’s been linked with a move to La Liga, with clubs guaranteeing him regular playing time and West Ham, but no formal offer has been submitted for the defender.
