After a tumultuous summer regarding transfer activity, Gareth Bale started for the Merengues in a fine display against Celta de Vigo in an away win. The Welshman was one of the main figures in the game, looking engaged with the club and the squad, even producing an assist on the first goal.

The 30-year-old came close to leaving Real Madrid during the transfer window this summer, but ultimately, both the club and player decided it was best for him to stay. It is known that Zinedine Zidane and Gareth Bale don't have a healthy relationship and will need to work it out if they want to succeed this season. However, after the game, he received multiple compliments from his teammates and coach, according to the Daily Mail.

"He has given us titles, he's scored in finals and he has a lot of respect from us all. He has to play, He's a great player and is very important for us," said Casemiro reports the Daily Mail.

But the biggest issue has been between Zidane and Bale, with the Frenchman going on to say that the Welshman would be better of leaving the club, as he'll struggle to get game-time at Real Madrid. That stance has now changed, with even Zidane admitting that Bale's presence after a series of injuries to the club, will help them in their quest to win the La Liga.

"He is going to stay. We have to focus on this season, nothing else. Hazard's injury is bad luck for us, but it has not changed the idea we had for Bale in this game. Gareth, James and all the players here are going to defend this shirt,” admitted current Real Madrid's coach to Sky Sports.

With Los Blancos' current injuries, it is expected that Bale is going to become a key man, taking part in a major role with the team. From dispensable to necessary, this could very well be a turnaround season for the player.
