Reports | Barcelona and PSG officials meet in Paris to discuss Neymar deal
Officials from Paris Saint Germain and Barcelona met in Paris on Tuesday to discuss the potential return of Brazilian superstar Neymar to Barcelona. While no deal has been accepted yet, talks between the two clubs have reached an advanced stage with Real Madrid still interested.
According to BBC Radio 5 Live's Guillem Balague, both clubs have said that the talks were "positive" but there is “still a lot of work to do”. Neymar Jr. joined Ligue 1 giants PSG on a world record fee of 222m euros (£200m) from Barcelona in 2017, but recent reports have emerged that have said the Brazilian forward is unhappy at the French capital and the 27 year old is now actively seeking a move away from the Parc des Princes.
The Catalan press has suggested from some Camp Nou leaks that Neymar himself is pushing for the move to happen. Real Madrid and Juventus also have been interested in Neymar, but the world’s most expensive player has made it clear that he prefers to reunite with Lionel Messi over everything else. The Neymar entourage is optimistic about the move and Barca board member Javier Bordas told reporters that a deal was edging "closer" but negotiations were continuing.
As of now, Barcelona are offering 170m euros (£153m) to be paid after a year's loan. The loan itself would cost at least 35m euros (£31.6m), and the Blaugrana are looking at the possibility of a cash plus player deal that would go easier on the club’s chequebooks.
