Tottenham unaware of Christian Eriksen’s next move
Tottenham Hotspurs are unaware of where their star player Christian Eriksen might go next, as the relationship between Spurs president Daniel Levy and Eriksen’s agent broke down. Amidst interest from Real Madrid, Eriksen has been used as a substitute in two out of three games for Spurs this season.
Daniel Levy and Martin Schoots, who represents Christian Eriksen, have not been in contact for quite some time now and that highlights the problems that Tottenham have with the Danish International, according to the Guardian. Tottenham feel vulnerable and uncertain about Eriksen's future and Spurs manager Mauricio Pochettino has referenced to that fact on numerous occasions.
This season, the 27 year old has entered the final year of his contract at Spurs. While the North London based club has tried its best to keep the creative midfielder by offering him a new contract with better wages, Eriksen has shown no inclination of staying. In a press conference in June, he openly admitted that he was willing to listen to offers.
Tottenham believes that Eriksen prefers a move to Barcelona or Real Madrid, and is aware that if a move does not materialize before the deadline, the club might have to lose him on a free transfer. After Sunday’s defeat at home against Newcastle United, Pochettino has said that this was his most unsettling start to a campaign at the club, and Eriksen’s situation played a major factor in it.
