Manchester City manager Pep Guardiola has revealed that forward Leroy Sane is free to leave if the German international isn’t keen on staying at the club. The 23-year-old has been heavily linked with a move to Bayern Munich in recent months, but nothing has materialized so far.

Sane has been heavily linked with a move out of the Etihad this summer but nothing has happened so far with even the Bavarians giving up hope on any move this summer. The 23-year-old German is amongst Manchester City’s most talented stars but did struggle to make a consistent bid for a first-team place last season.

That took an even bigger hit with the arrival of Riyad Mahrez from Leicester City last summer, which saw Sane make only 47 appearances in all competitions. This also includes appearances off the bench, something that Sane specialized in towards the end. But with the move to Bayern Munich going no-where, Pep Guardiola has revealed that the German is still a key man in his team.

“Yes” Guardiola revealed when asked if Sane will still be with the club once the season starts. “The club made him an offer last year but I said many times that I want people happy to be here. We are going to help him to be the best.

“But, at the same time I spoke to the club 10 times, and I want people here to be happy. If they don't want, they go,” he added. “But the desire to have him to be with us is always there.”
