Real Madrid spent most of the summer window trying to lure Neymar to the Santiago Bernabeu but Los Blancos star Dani Carvajal has admitted that he never thought the move would happen. Despite a summer long transfer saga, Neymar opted to stay in France with a late move to Barcelona failing.

Despite making most of their moves early in the summer transfer window, Real Madrid still desperately tried to sign both Paul Pogba and Neymar. The Los Blancos, Zinedine Zidane, and president Florentino Perez were after a marquee superstar and believed that either the Frenchman or the Brazilian would be the man to help them out.

However, with Paul Pogba unaffordable and Neymar opting to stay at PSG, despite being heavily linked with a move to Barcelona, Dani Carvajal has revealed he never believed the move would go through for the latter. The Real Madrid full-back has admitted that the duo’s arrival was discussed in the Los Blancos’ dressing room but he was sceptical about the probability of Neymar joining.

"You saw that one day he went to Barca, another day he came with us, another day he stayed. We asked the Brazilians and they told us that he didn't know. I was in doubt. He is a top-five or top-three player. Such a player is welcome on any team.Pogba sounded good too," he told El Partidazo de COPE.

"The transfer dates close differently everywhere and in the end he has not arrived.  We are who we are, and we cannot think of someone who is not with us. There is always talk of revolution, but in a team like Real Madrid, where everyone wants to be and not everyone wants to leave, it's not easy," he concluded.
