Chelsea star Tammy Abraham has revealed that the Blues are angry with themselves after they lost their first Champions League group stage game at home. Frank Lampard and company were beaten by Valencia at home, after Ross Barkley missed a late penalty, and host Liverpool next in the Premier League.

It wasn’t the start that Chelsea expected with them failing to beat Valencia, after a late goal in the second half was enough for Frank Lampard to lose his first Champions League game as a manager. The Blues did dominate possession for most of the game but couldn't make the most of their advantage failing to create good chances, especially after Mason Mount's injury, to threaten Jasper Cillessen in the Valencia goal.

However, the Blues do not have time to lick their wounds, as they host Liverpool over the weekend in a crucial Premier League fixture. It allows them to respond to their defeat not just in the Champions League, but against their first Big Six game since defeat at the hands of Manchester United. It has seen Tammy Abraham in an interview with Sky Sports, have a lot to say about the loss to Valencia.

The former Aston Villa star, who has become Chelsea’s first-choice striker, played down the defeat, adding that the Blues will look to take out their anger against Liverpool.

"(Sunday) is a test of character. We can take our anger out against Liverpool. It's a massive game and both teams will be going to win. We'll look forward to putting (tonight's defeat) right. It's still early doors in the Champions League. We're fuming we lost today. But there's still five games to go - we just have to win our next five," he said at Stamford Bridge.

"We're obviously disappointed. We didn't play our best football. Valencia came and stopped us playing the way we wanted so you have to give them credit. We're going to have a lot of ups and downs in a season. We've got to move on and not dwell on it," concluded the English striker.
