Ahead of Leicester City’s clash against Tottenham, Brendan Rodgers has confessed that he doesn’t believe Jose Mourinho gets enough respect from the footballing world. The Portuguese international has had a stellar managerial career so far with stints at Real Madrid, Chelsea, and Inter Milan.

Tottenham were struggling in the league when the North Londoners opted to part ways with Mauricio Pochettino and appoint Jose Mourinho. Since then, while results haven’t exactly gone their way, Spurs have improved themselves to a certain extent with them in contention for a place amongst the top six. At the moment, they sit in seventh place but are six points behind Manchester United, in fifth, with two games left on the cards.

But while the Red Devils have a chance of finishing in a top four spot, Tottenham are mathematically out of the race with questions about Mourinho’s style of play rising. The three-time Premier League winner has been subject to immense criticism since signing for Spurs and Leicester City boss Brendan Rodgers believes that his counterpart doesn’t get the respect he deserves. Rodgers, whose side faces Tottenham on Sunday, also admitted that the Portuguese boss “is a world-class manager” and someone who has proven his ability over the years.

"Jose is a world-class manager. He has been until this point of his career and will continue to be that. It (criticism) is a lack of respect and normally from people that have never stood on this sideline. OK, football continues to evolve and change, but you still have room for different types of football. Jose's a master at getting his teams organised, difficult to beat and winning," Rodgers said reported Sky Sports.

“There's different philosophies and identities of managers and there's no right or wrong. He's proven over many years that he's such a successful manager and he'll be looking to bring success to Tottenham. His longevity in the game, what he's done, and what he continues to do deserves a huge amount of respect."
