After much speculation, Leicester City have signed Cengiz Under from AS Roma on a season-long loan spell with an option to make the move permanent for £22 million. The 23-year-old had struggled over the last few years with Roma despite making a blistering start to his life in the capital.

While initial discussions came to a standstill after both AS Roma and Leicester City couldn’t come to an agreement over an obligation to buy clause, things have changed. It has seen Roma settle for an option to buy for £22 million, thus allowing the Foxes to sign Cengiz Under on loan for the remainder of the 2020/21 season. The Turkish winger was reportedly the Premier League club’s second target after they failed with a move for Francisco Trincao.

However, the Foxes will still be paying AS Roma a loan fee of £2.7 million for the 23-year-old and the club confirmed the move earlier today. In his first interview as a Leicester City player, Under revealed that he’s been waiting a long time to play in England and couldn’t resist the opportunity to do so once it was handed to him. He further added that he’s overjoyed to play with best friend Caglar Soyuncu with him looking forward to playing with the Foxes.

“I can’t wait to go to Leicester and start training. I’ve always wanted to play in England and this is a great opportunity to play in the Premier League. I will try to help my team-mates on the pitch and off the pitch and I believe that I can improve my performance every day. I think I am fast and can create lots of chances for my colleagues. I feel very good because my best friend plays for Leicester City. I am very happy to be able to play with Çağlar [Söyüncü] and I always watched Leicester’s games because of him," Under told Leicester's official website.
