Despite being 33 years old, Robert Lewandowski insists that he could play at the highest level for at least another four years, given that he’s in a good shape and has the right mentality. The Bayern Munich star is considered to be one of world's best, with over 400 career goals for four clubs.

Ever since he signed for Bayern Munich in the summer of 2014, Robert Lewandowski has hit heights few expected the forward to achieve. He has not only consistently scored 20 plus goals for the club, but last season, the Polish international went on to break Gerd Muller’s record with 41 league goals in just 29 appearances. It has seen many push the 33-year-old towards the top of the pile for the Ballon d’Or, despite the fact that Bayern Munich didn’t win the Champions League.

But with Lewandowski now 33 years old, many believe that the forward’s career is coming towards its end, despite the fact that he has netted ten goals in six appearances this season. It saw the Pole refute that fact as well and instead, he believes that he has “at least four more years” at the top level. Lewandowski also added that “33 is only a number” and it doesn’t really showcase how fit he is.

“I'm in good shape physically and have the right mentality. I can play for many more years, I'm sure at least four more years.  And then I will see, maybe I can raise the bar even higher.  This summer I had the best results in my career. If I was 27 a year ago, I am now either 25 or 26. My stats are better than ever,” Lewandowski told Sport Bild.

“And it's not just about fitness. After a four-week break, I had a better base before preparation than ever before.  33 years is only a number and does not show how old I am really.”
