Ahead of PSG’s first Champions League game of the season, Mauricio Pochettino has revealed that while he believes Chelsea and PSG are amongst the favourites, his side still has way to go. The Parisians had arguably one of the best transfer windows this summer, signing Lionel Messi amongst others.

Despite bringing in both Kylian Mbappe and Neymar, Paris Saint-Germain have struggled to win the Champions League although the Parisians have managed to reach the final. But luck wasn’t on their side that night with Bayern Munich walking away as winners and since then, the club have watched former coach Thomas Tuchel lift the trophy. Yet, having signed Lionel Messi, Gianluigi Donnarumma, Achraf Hakimi and a few others this summer, the Ligue 1 giants are the favourites for the trophy.

While they’re joined by Chelsea, Manchester City and a few others, few will deny that Mauricio Pochettino’s side are, with the addition of Messi, the side to lift the coveted European crown. But the Argentine doesn’t believe that although he did admit that “it is possible that Chelsea” and PSG are amongst the favourites to beat on paper. However, Pochettino also added that his team aren’t a team yet with that his challenge now.

"It's possible that Chelsea and ourselves are the two teams to beat on paper, looking at our squads, but Chelsea are the holders so they're the team to beat especially after strengthening their squad," Pochettino said, reported ESPN.

"We're not a team yet. We are a club that has recruited many players this summer. There are some big names but we have to turn into a team. We know that we'll be judged at the end of the season on our results. The pressure is there for all the clubs and we know that for a number of years, the Champions League is PSG's main objective."
