In the latest La Liga action, Real Madrid secured a crucial 2-0 away win over Valencia CF to remain within touching distance of league leaders FC Barcelona. The match was largely subdued, with Madrid enjoying most of the possession but finding it difficult to create clear scoring opportunities. Their persistence paid off in the 65th minute when Alvaro Carreras scored after benefiting from a fortunate rebound in the box.

In stoppage time, Kylian Mbappe wrapped up the victory with a close range finish, taking his league tally to 23 goals and strengthening his position as the competition’s leading scorer. Following this result, Barcelona stayed top with 58 points, while Madrid moved to 57 in second place. Valencia remained in 17th position, just one point above the relegation zone.

Real Madrid had to cope without several key players, including Vinicius Jr, Jude Bellingham, Rodrygo, and Eder Militao, which resulted in academy players being given starting roles. Meanwhile, Atletico Madrid suffered a 1-0 home defeat against Real Betis, leaving them third on 45 points. Betis rose to fifth with 38 points, while Villarreal CF remained fourth with two games in hand, keeping the title race and European qualification battle wide open.
