The move is being pushed by Barcelona presidential candidate Víctor Font, who has made Haaland one of the key promises in his campaign ahead of the club’s presidential election on March 15. According to reports, two of Font’s advisors met senior Manchester City officials in Madrid during City’s visit to face Real Madrid in the UEFA Champions League.

The meeting involved City chief executive Ferran Soriano and sporting director Hugo Viana. Discussions reportedly included Haaland, although the plan is not about an immediate transfer. Instead, Font is believed to be seeking a preferential understanding that would give Barcelona an advantage if the Norwegian striker becomes available in the future.
