Gujarat Fortunegiants seized the initiative in the second half of the contest to eventually beat the Tamil Thalaivas by a comprehensive margin of 36-25 in the Inter Zone Challenge Week in Patna. Starring for Gujarat was raider Sachin Tawar accounting for a third of his side's points.

In the post-match press conference, coach Manpreet Singh was full of admiration for his side’s performance, especially talking up Sachin’s talent and immense potential.

“We’ve worked with him for a long time and currently, there is absolutely no weakness in his game. Speed, strength, stamina; he’s the complete package. All he needs is a little motivation. The rest he does on his own,” said Manpreet speaking of his stalwart.

Sachin, who was also present at the conference, retained his composure against the adrenaline of just having produced a match-winning effort. He credited Manpreet in return for making sure he had things in the right perspective during raiding against the players of intimidating stature and position in the sport, such as Manjeet Chillar and Jasvir Singh.

“The coach had a specific gameplan for me and all I had to do was execute it. He told me to think of raids having a 20 second time limit and thereby be quick in getting a touch point. It definitely worked for me tonight. I don’t feel any intimidation going up against the legends of the game,” Sachin revealed on how he was able to convert the plans devised with Manpreet into action.

Looking up to the next assignment in the competition, facing Puneri Paltans, Manpreet will lead a confident Gujarat side. Having already beaten them at home, Gujarat will go into the match with obvious psychological advantage. They have done well to identify the strengths of the Pune based franchise and will look to negate them specifically.

“We’ve enough footage to analyse the players in their team. They have the top raider of Season 6, Nitin Tomar, who is capable of scoring 12-13 points on his own. But we have excellent Corners so we’ll be sure to be at the top of our game to ensure we get another win,” said Manpreet appearing in a relaxed mindset ahead of the match up.
