Virat Kohli is regarded as one of the finest modern-day batsmen thanks to his fantastic amalgamation of orthodoxy and the ability to take down any opposition on a given day. In the first ODI against Sri Lanka, Kohli showcased that and sent a Lakshan Sandakan ball for a six with an incredible timing.

With both bat and ball, India dominated the opening ODI in Dambulla yesterday to clinch a victory by nine wickets. Shikhar Dhawan's glorious run of form continued as he got his 11th ODI ton, sharing a 197-run stand with skipper Kohli, who contributed unbeaten 82 runs, as the duo made light work of the chase.

While Dhawan produced an innings of sheer majesty en route to his century, Kohli didn't stay behind too and produced a brilliant shot that left everyone gasping for breath. In the 27th over of the run chase, Kohli targetted Sandakan and sent the first two balls for two boundaries. The wrist-spinner tried to control the carnage by keeping the next delivery short and at the middle-stump area, but Kohli went to his back foot and sent the ball for a maximum with a perfect timing.

The shot made for a wonderful viewing as much as it was an illustration of Indian skipper's charismatic ability. The duo then sent the Lankan bowlers on a leather hunt as India registered a nine-wicket victory to take a 1-0 lead in the series.
