VVS Laxman has stated that Sourav Ganguly was the best captain under whom he played and picked Rahul Dravid as the player that he would want to play for his life. Laxman also revealed that had he failed to become a professional cricketer, he would have gone on to become a cardiovascular surgeon.

VVS Laxman chose Sourav Ganguly to be the best captain he played under. Laxman was unflinching in his revelation and chose Ganguly as his pick without any second thoughts. Laxman also added that if anyone had to bat for his life then he choose Rahul Dravid to bat it out.

The right-hander also rated former Pakistan fast bowler Wasim Akram as the toughest bowler he ever faced. Speaking at the India Today Conclave South 2018, when asked to choose one batsman between Sachin Tendulkar and Virat Kohli, Laxman stated that both the batsmen are legends and avoided picking any one person.

On a personal front, Laxman said that he was given five years to make a career out of cricket otherwise he would have been a Cardiovascular Surgeon. Tilting the discussion to the upcoming Cricket World Cup in England Laxman stated that both hosts England and the Indian team would be strong contenders for the Cup.

"India and England favourites. Being an Indian, I want India to win. I am not going to remove my shirt at Lord's. That's a challenge posed by Sourav to Virat. Happy to leave it to them. I don't have six packs like Sourav had or at least he had the confidence of removing his shirt [at the Lord's balcony]," Laxman said.

Laxman said that former Indian pacer Zaheer Khan was the best roommate he ever had in his whole career. Regarding the ongoing India-Australia series, the right-handed batsman predicted that India will take the series 3-1. The series is currently even with both the teams winning a match each. The next match is scheduled for December 26 at the Melbourne Cricket Ground.
