Kamlesh Nagarkoti wants to emulate Mohammed Shami and Bhuvneshwar Kumar

Indian cricket is going through a golden phase of lethal pace bowling that has got youngsters and emerging players idolize names like Bhuvneshwar Kumar, Mohammad Shami, Jasprit Bumrah and more. The nation’s latest sensation, Nagarkoti’s story is no different who has Bhuvi and Shami as his role models and has revealed that he tries thinking like them when stuck in any tricky situation.

"I keep Bhuvneshwar Kumar and Mohammed Shami in mind whenever there is a particularly tricky situation facing me. I try to think how they would have bowled and try to emulate that. I haven't met them yet, hopefully, in the coming days I will get a chance to chat with them," Nagarkoti told reporters as quoted by PTI.

In the recently concluded U-19 World Cup, the Indian colts came back home with the trophy for the record fourth time. In their winning campaign, the Rajasthan lad grabbed nine wickets at an average of 16.33. After winning the trophy in New Zealand, the 18-year-old is now working to do well in the ongoing Vijay Hazare Trophy and upcoming Indian Premier League. 

On the basis of his recent exploits in New Zealand with his exhilarating pace and brilliant fielding skills, Nagakoti went under the hammer for a whopping price of INR 3.2 crore from Kolkata Knight Riders.

"I am focused now on playing the one-day matches in the Vijay Hazare Trophy and then the IPL later. I'll try to do well in both. I will try not to let up on speed, but will try to bowl according to the situation," he said.

Throughout the tournament, Nagarkoti, along with Mavi, maintained an impressive 145 kmph bowling speed on a regular basis. And he claimed that despite touching the 140 plus speed, they were told to focus on their line and length.

"I did not expect bowling that fast. This was the second time that I have managed to clock such a high speed. I had done it once in England, so this was the second time, While pace was in focus, (bowling coach) Paras Mhambrey sir taught us how to bowl in the right areas. That was our main focus" said Nagarkoti.

Apart from Nagarkoti, Mavi is also part of the upcoming Indian Premier League as KKR bought him for INR 3 crore. The right-arm pacer stated that bowling alongside Mavi has helped him a lot as he looked forward to sharing the KKR dressing room in 2018 IPL.

"I started playing since 7th-8th. Bowling in tandem with Shivam (Mavi) worked quite well for us. It was a great experience. When your partner is bowling well and supporting you, then bowling in that flow was quite satisfying," he added.
