The IPL auction will see as many as 1122 players go under the hammer including 282 foreign cricketers that have the likes of Joe Root, Ben Stokes, and Mitchell Starc. The registration for the auction has been closed on January 12 and the auction will take place on January 27 and 28 in Bengaluru.

The Board of Control for Cricket in India, on Saturday, announced that 1122 players registered for the auction. The board has sent the player list to the eight IPL franchise which features 281 capped players, 838 uncapped players, including 778 Indians and three players from the Associate nations.

It is expected that the bid will go high when the Indian stars Ajinkya Rahane, Kuldeep Yadav, KL Rahul, Murali Vijay, Gautam Gambhir, Yuvraj Singh, R Ashwin, and Harbhajan Singh go under the process.

The franchises will also target to strengthen their team with overseas players like Chris Gayle, Ben Stokes, Chris Lynn, Eoin Morgan, pacers Mitchell Starc and Pat Cummins. The auction will see the new entry as England's Test skipper Joe Root also decided to give a try to the most popular T20 league in the world.

Lasith Malinga, who failed to impress in the last season of the IPL, will again ready to show his deadly performance in the league along with compatriots Angelo Mathews, Thisara Perera, and Niroshan Dickwella.

Dwayne Bravo, Carlos Brathwaite, Evin Lewis and Jason Holder from West Indies are looking forward to add the Caribbean flavor to the league.

The league considered a big platform for the international players and for the young players as well. Even some of the Indian players got the national call after their brilliant run in the league. This time India U19 captain Prithvi Shaw, Baroda skipper Deepak Hooda, all-rounder Krunal Pandya and Basil Thampi will fill up the uncapped players’ slot.
