COA to review Team India’s terrible performance in South Africa tour
The Committee of Administrators has decided to review India cricket team’s horrendous performance in the South Africa tour after they lost the three-match Test series with one match to spare. The third and final Test started in Johannesburg on Wednesday as India try to avoid a whitewash.
Indian team is on the verge of experiencing a humiliating whitewash at the hands of South Africa as they take on the Proteas in Johannesburg. They lost the first Test by 72 runs in Cape Town and received a 135-run loss from the home side in Centurion.
Both the defeats have been followed by immense criticisms for the management’s team selection, and the CoA has put now come forward to review the series once it gets over.
“We will review the performance after getting the full report from the team manager. Nothing can be done now as the players and officials are in South Africa,” said a BCCI official who was present in the COA meeting that took place on Tuesday as quoted by PTI.
The meeting was attended by COA chief Vinod Rai, member Diana Edulji and BCCI CEO Rahul Johri. But apart from them, none from the BCCI office-bearers like acting president CK Khanna and acting secretary Amitabh Choudhary were invited to the meeting.
The team was slammed by former cricketers for their give-up attitude especially the batting order with many stating that ignoring the practice matches hampered their performance. Some even said that playing Sri Lanka was not beneficial for the side. Even, the Indian coach Ravi Shastri admitted that if the team had visited the country ten days before, then the team would have got extra time to adapt the conditions and it could definitely help India in changing the result.
