Virat Kohli has claimed that he needed some sort of a break after the two foreign tours to South Africa and England this year and feels he is rejuvenated after being rested for the Asia Cup last month. Kohli has, however, avoided the question of Karun Nair omission from the Test squad.

Virat Kohli ended the Test series against England as the highest-run getter despite India’s dismal 4-1 loss. The Indian skipper was rested for the recently concluded Asia Cup tournament, which India won under the leadership of Rohit Sharma. However, Kohli will return to captain the Indian team in the series against West Indies which will start on October 4.

The 29-year old admitted that he felt worn out and tired after the two tours of South Africa and England which took a toll on him physically. He added that he felt rejuvenated after the one month break that he was given.

“Yes, I am feeling rejuvenated. I needed the break after the intensity with which the tours of South Africa and England went. People usually talk about workloads but they don't usually understand the concept. They refer to workload as number of games played. There is no workload if you make zero in every game. If I bat for six hours that is workload," Kohli said in press conference to PTI sources.

Kohli also spoke about the upcoming home series against West Indies. There was a lot of talk surrounding the omission of middle-order batsman Karun Nair, who was dropped in favour of all-rounder Hanuma Vihari. Nair's exclusion from squad triggered a controversy as he was dropped despite warming the bench through the five-match Test series against England.

"Selectors have already spoken about it and it is not my place to say. There are selectors doing their job. You can conveniently merge everything and make it a circle where everyone is doing their job and not focusing on what people are saying on the outside.

"If a person has spoken about it already, it should not be brought in here again. The chief selector has already spoken to the player of what I know. I don't think I need to comment on that. Selection is not my job. As a team, we are doing what we are supposed to. Everyone should be aware of their respective jobs," Kohli added.

Kohli & Co. will take on West Indies in the opening Test match at Rajkot on Thursday.
