CoA to discuss BCCI nominations for Arjuna Award today

The Committee of Administrators (CoA) will meet on Saturday to discuss BCCI nominations for the prestigious Arjuna Award for the year 2019 in Delhi. General Manager Cricket Operations of the BCCI Saba Karim might propose the names of the nominees to the committee appointed by the Supreme Court.

The committee comprising of Vinod Rai, Diana Edulji and Lt. Gen. Ravi Thodge will meet in Delhi today and there are a lot of things to discuss along with the board’s nomination for the Arjuna Award. As per IANS sources, other important matters to be discussed by the members today also includes a call on the decision-making process in women’s cricket. The matter will be discussed by the CoA and will be referred to the Ombudsman as well.

"We will decide on the nominees on the basis of their seniority. There will be both men and women cricketers who will be in the list that Karim presents," a senior official told IANS.

The CoA will also discuss the recommendation of the Ombudsman about the roles of Sachin Tendulkar and VVS Laxman in the Mumbai Indians and Sunrisers Hyderabad respectively in the IPL as well. The members will check the formation of the players’ association and will propose the cash awards for new tournaments as well. Making a proper guideline for utilization of funds granted for the board is another matter that might be discussed in today’s meeting as well.

Speaking about the issues related to Tendulkar and Laxman, the board official has mentioned that it will be on the same lines as that were for Sourav Ganguly.

 "It should be on the same lines as that with regards to Sourav Ganguly. The duo will be asked to make full disclosure and then permitted to continue in all likelihood," the official explained.
