According to reports, the Australian women cricketers will not be a part of the upcoming BCCI Women’s T20 Challenge because of a disagreement between BCCI and Cricket Australia regarding an ODI series of the men’s teams. The Women’s T20 Challenge will be played in Jaipur during the IPL playoffs.

After successfully organising the one-off T20 game between Supernovas and Trailblazers during the Indian Premier League last season, the BCCI has gone one step further this year by deciding to organise a tri-series between three women T20 teams named as Supernovas, Velocity and Trailblazers. The board has announced the teams as well with Indian and foreign women cricketers in it.

However, it came as a surprise for many seeing there is not a single Australian woman’s name on the list. As per a report published in ESPNCricinfo report, the Australian and Indian men’s team are scheduled to play an ODI series in January 2020 which Cricket Australia wants to be shifted as the series will clash with the Big Bash League at that time of the year. The CA has also asked the BCCI to postpone the series to March but there is still disagreement between the two boards over this issue.

There have been exchanging of mails between the cricket boards but they haven’t yet arrived on a solution and this has also led the women cricketers from Australia missing out on the upcoming Women’s T20 Challenge. The three teams will be led by Mithali Raj, Harmanpreet Kaur and Smriti Mandhana and have players from England, West Indies, Bangladesh, Sri Lanka and New Zealand as well.
