KL Rahul has made a return to international cricket after his twin 80+ runs in the India A series against England Lions and will join the Indian team for the ODI series against Australia. While Bhuvneshwar Kumar will be absent for the first two matches, Jasprit Bumrah will spearhead the attack.

As the preparation for the World Cup has reached the final phase, India have announced a heady mix of youth and experience to test their bench strength. In a bid to achieve that, they have brought in Rishabh Pant to the ODI side in a bid to give the final team a finishing touch. Shubman Gill has found himself being dropped from the squad after two unimpressive performances in the ODI series against New Zealand.

Bhuvneshwar Kumar, who was only one of the two players being a part of the Australia tour from start to finish, was rested from the first two matches in Hyderabad and Nagpur, he will return to the squad to partner Bumrah for the last three ODIs. While MS Dhoni continued to be a part of the team, Dinesh Karthik does not make the cut despite impressive batting display in the T20I series against New Zealand.

Vijay Shankar’s good batting display earned him another chance to be with the Indian team and if he will remain successful in putting up few good scores, he will definitely be ahead of Rishabh Pant in the pecking order as far as the selection of the World Cup team is concerned.

India’s squad for 1st and 2nd ODI : Virat Kohli (Capt), Rohit Sharma (vc), Shikhar Dhawan, Ambati Rayudu, Kedar Jadhav, MSD (wk), Hardik Pandya, Jasprit Bumrah, Mohamed Shami, Yuzvendra Chahal, Kuldeep Yadav, Vijay Shankar, Rishabh Pant, Siddharth Kaul, KL Rahul

India’s squad for remaining three ODIs: Virat Kohli (Capt), Rohit Sharma (vc), Shikhar Dhawan, Ambati Rayudu, Kedar Jadhav, MSD (wk), Hardik Pandya, Jasprit Bumrah, Bhuvneshwar Kumar, Yuzvendra Chahal, Kuldeep Yadav, Mohammed Shami, Vijay Shankar, KL Rahul, Rishabh Pant
