Sourav Ganguly has issued a stern warning to Virat Kohli & Co. to refrain from entering tomorrow’s tie against rival Pakistan with an overconfident attitude. The two arch-rivals will be meeting for the first time in an ICC event since the final of the ICC Champions Trophy played in England in 2017.

The India-Pakistan tie has been on the minds of cricket fans all over the globe ever since the announcement of the schedule of the ongoing ICC World Cup 2019 last year. The two nations have been at loggerheads in international tournaments for decades now. India boast a better record in the World Cup and are yet to beaten by Pakistan at the global showpiece.

However, former India captain Sourav Ganguly issued a word of caution to Virat Kohli & Co. ahead of tomorrow’s mouth-watering tie at the Old Trafford Cricket Ground in Manchester. The former left-handed batsman urged the Indians to not be complacent against Sarfraz Ahmed & Co.

"India needs to be very careful, don't go into this game thinking they are the favourites. I think they did that the last time in 2017 in the ICC Champions Trophy finals, and Pakistan beat them hands down. It's going to be a great game of cricket," commented Ganguly while on a talk show for Star Sports.

The Kolkata-born cricketer agreed that the match in Manchester will be a huge game as people all around the globe will be glued to their screens to see what the final outcome will be.

"People get a bit carried away, and excited with this game, so from that point of view it's going to be a huge game in Manchester on Sunday. My first trip as a captain against Pakistan in 2003 - we had never won there before, but then we won both the Test matches and one-dayers. My memories of playing against Pakistan have been happy times for India," Ganguly added.
