The weather forecast for Thursday’s much-awaited clash between India and West Indies at Old Trafford looks to be promising as bright and sunny overhead conditions are expected. Windies need to win all their remaining matches to stand a chance to qualify, while India need to win 2 of their 4 matches

Earlier this World Cup, India were left red-faced after their match against New Zealand at Trent Bridge got called off due to excessive rain and a wet outfield. It was the third match of this world cup to be called off without a ball being bowled. However, team India can breathe a sigh of relief, as the weather forecast in the lead up to their next match against the West Indies at Old Trafford on Thursday looks promising.

“We are expecting the North West including Manchester to experience brighter conditions over the next few days, although there is always the risk of isolated showers. Temperatures will rise toward the weekend with values expected to reach the high 20s C on Saturday," Grahame Madge, a Met Office spokesman, told Sportstar.

The ongoing World Cup (4) has already surpassed the previous highest number of washed-out matches in a World Cup - two in 1992 and 2003. The men in blue led by Virat Kohli are placed 3rd in the points table with nine points from five matches. They need to win a minimum of two matches to progress while Jason Holder’s West Indies need to win all their remaining matches to have a slim chance of making the semis.
