IPL 2019 | BCCI will speak to franchises on workload management at right time, reveals Vinod Rai

This is the first time in the 12-year history of the IPL that the Indian team will play a 50-over World Cup after it. The IPL, which is scheduled to begin from March 23 will end just before the World Cup, will be played in England and Wales from May 30. India would take on South Africa in their first game of the tourney on June 5.

Many experts and cricketers have spoken about the workload management of the players during the league so that they remain fit for the big event after that. Meanwhile, COA chief has now cleared the air on this issue with the players and various IPL franchises with 10 days to go for the league saying that a specialised team is monitoring this and the board will discuss with the teams at the right time.

"The BCCI (as a team) is keeping a watch on the matter and will speak to the franchises at the right time. We have a team, which is keeping track of this," Rai told IANS.

Earlier, before the Ranchi ODI against Australia, SRH bowler Bhuvneshwar Kumar had also spoken about the need for workload management of the pace bowlers during the second half of the cash-rich league. However, CSK skipper stated that bowling four overs will not make the bowlers tired rather it will help them perform well. The former keeper opined that the bowlers can play the entire tournament but have to maintain a proper diet and daily routine.
