Kolkata Knight Riders’ fresh recruit Lockie Ferguson was all praise for his teammate Andre Russell who led the home team to a six-wicket win against Sunrisers Hyderabad on Sunday. Russell overpowered Bhuvaneshwar Kumar & Co. almost single-handedly by scoring 49 runs from just 19 deliveries.

Bhuvaneshwar Kumar-led Sunrisers Hyderabad thought they did just about enough after they managed to dismiss the dangerous looking Nitish Rana (68) courtesy Rashid Khan. However, Jamaican powerhouse Andre Russell had other plans in his mind as the towering all-rounder unleashed himself on the SRH bowling attack and powered his team to a thunderous six-wicket win at Eden Gardens after scoring an unbeaten 49* off just 19 deliveries.

Kolkata Knight Riders’ newest addition Lockie Ferguson of New Zealand made his IPL debut on Sunday. The Kiwi pacer was left in awe after Russell’s onslaught in the middle and later revealed that he could not believe his eyes when he saw his teammate take on the opposition bowlers with such ease.

"It's one of those I've never seen anything like that personally. That was unbelievable. I'm pretty excited he's not on my side, I don't have to bowl to him," Ferguson told PTI reporters ahead of their match against Kings XI Punjab on Wednesday.

Ferguson, who has played five T20Is for New Zealand, further added that he hoped to make the most of his IPL experience ahead of the upcoming 2019 ICC ODI World Cup which is scheduled to start on May 30.

"It's high pressure in IPL. It's one of the biggest competitions in the world, playing in front of big crowds, against the best players in the world. Of course all these experiences you're gaining, playing in the IPL is going to help you going forward.

"Obviously there's a big World Cup in a few months but at this stage, I'm focusing on KKR and trying to assist them, get some more wins. I'm very much a game-by-game kind of focus guy. So I'm looking forward to tomorrow night," Ferguson added.

Opinions are divided and anger has been thrown at Ravichandran Ashwin for adopting a “controversial” way to dismiss Jos Buttler last night. While asking to take the moral high ground has been the major order so far, from the past incidents, it was clear that Ashwin would have done that anyway.
