VIDEO | Fakhar Zaman shoulders the ball onto the stumps to account for unlucky dismissal
The World Cup has got underway and has already sprung some mind-boggling moments. After Ben Stokes cupped a ripper in the opening game, Fakhar Zaman shouldered the ball on to the stumps in Pakistan’s opening game against West Indies in Bristol to account for an unlucky yet funny dismissal.
After losing an early wicket, Pakistan were trying to find their zone and Fakhar Zaman was playing a good hand in doing so. He was negotiating the pumped Windies bowling attack with immense confidence and took the attack to the opposition.
With most of the surfaces in England being batting-friendly, Pakistan needed a big score under their belt against the explosive Windies attack and Zaman was well aware of that. The southpaw was playing his natural game and looked good for a big score.
Andre Russell was brought into the attack in the sixth over and looked right on the money. The Caribbean all-rounder tested Zaman will a good bouncer, which seemed to have hurried onto the southpaw while executing a pull. The ball hit his gloves, then the grill after which, he shouldered the ball onto the stumps. It was certainly an unfortunate mode of dismissal as Pakistan lost Zaman for 22 off 16 and found themselves in hot water.
