VIDEO | Virat Kohli ignores Jasprit Bumrah’s suggestion to gift him a hat-trick

After ending the first-innings with 416, India had established an unflinching dominance against the Windies and to come out of that shackle, the hosts needed to bat with purpose. But if Bumrah is on fire, there is hardly anything one could do, and as the team found out in the ninth over of the innings.

After dismissing Darren Bravo and Shamarh Brooks on the second and third delivery of the over, Bumrah had an opportunity to secure his maiden hat-trick of his career on the fourth ball. With Roston Chase on strike, he bowled an unplayable delivery which swung in from the yorker length area and Chase was beaten for pace. 

Being completely confused about the entire proceedings, Chase brought the bat late and the ball had crashed into the front pad, bringing a loud appeal from the Indian slip cordon. If anyone was the least interested in the appeal was Bumrah himself who thought the ball would miss the leg stump, and thus, he started walking back to his bowling crease.

The umpire instantly called it not out, but Virat Kohli had seen something that no one had seen. After a brief consult with the fielders to be confirmed if any inside edge was involved, he went for the review, and what a review it turned out to be! 

The replays confirmed that the bat came later with a closed face and Chase was beaten on the inside edge. The chance of ball going down the leg-stump was also negated as ball-tracking showed that it would go on to hit a major part of leg-stump. As the third umpire changed the on-field decision, Kohli was on cloud nine and celebrated like a mad man. The ecstasy was there to see.
