Mithali Raj and Jhulan Goswami, two of India's biggest stars in women's cricket, will miss the forthcoming edition of Women's T20 Challenge 2022, alongside Shikha Pandey. The legendary duo, despite having previously retired from T20Is, had featured in the 2020 edition of the tournament.

Mithali Raj and Jhulan Goswami were not included in the squads announced by BCCI for the forthcoming edition of the Women's T20 Challenge. Raj led the Velocity side in the last edition of the tournament in 2020, but will not be replaced by Deepti Sharma for captaincy responsibility. On the other hand, Smriti Mandhana and Harmanpreet Kaur, who had captained the Trailblazers and Supernovas respectively, will continue to lead their sides.

Despite having previously retired from T20 Internationals, Raj and Goswami played the last Women's T20 Challenge edition. Veteran bowler Sikha Pandey, who played the last edition, will not be part of any team as well. Veda Krishnamurthy is another notable absentee this season.

The 2022 Women's T20 Challenge will begin on May 23 with a rematch of the 2020 finalists, the Trailblazers and the Supernovas. Then within 12 hours, the Supernovas scheduled to play the evening game on May 23 and the afternoon clash the following day. The final, meanwhile, will be on May 28. All fixtures will take place at MCA Stadium, Pune.
