Presence of mind when coupled with fitness can produce extraordinary results in the sporting realm. Rajasthan Royal’s Riyan Parag showed extraordinary reflexes at the edge of the boundary ropes in Jaipur on Saturday to save a boundary and compensate for his teammate's glaring misfield.

Asked to bat first in an away game, the Royal Challengers Bengaluru got a good start by acquiring 53 runs inside the powerplay. Openers Virat Kohli and Faf du Plessis continued the momentum and extracted periodic boundaries coupled with good strike rotation. Amidst the regular proceedings in the innings, Riyan Parag put in an extraordinary effort on the field, stealing the limelight from the RCB openers.

On the second ball of the 13th over, Ravichandran Ashwin sprayed a full-pitch delivery over at 92.7ks near the off stump that Virat Kohli flicked towards cow corner. Dhruv Jurel ran a long way from deep midwicket and dove to half-stop the ball before Riyan Parag converging from long-on, made an extraordinary effort, to protect a possible boundary. Parag was quick to notice the ball rolling towards the ropes despite Jurel’s effort and made an extended leap to grasp the ball and curb it from touching the cushions, thereby saving a couple of runs.

The Twitterverse was awed by this effort from the Assam cricketer and here’s how they reacted.

What a stop!

He is different from all!

Just like a wow!

Let him cook!

Brilliat!

Hahaha!

He is next big thing for India!

Much need for them!

He was set but gone!

It was not intentional!
