IPL 2024 | Twitter abuzz as Harshit Rana avoids to blow a kiss despite an aggressive send-off
While adrenaline plays a huge role in a bowler’s playing culture, it can often lead to overstepping boundaries. Having already crossed the limits once by blowing a flying kiss to Mayank Agarwal, the Delhi pacer avoided doing the same by controlling his instincts after cleaning up Abishek Porel.
Winning the toss and electing to bat first did spark debate on Delhi Capital’s decision and soon they were pushed on the back foot against the new ball. Mitchell Starc and Vaibhav Arora induced the first three wickets but Abishek Porel and Rishabh Pant tried to negate the other KKR bowlers to help them to a 67-run powerplay. However, local boy Porel’s stay was short-lived as Harshit Rana outfoxed him following it up with a fiery send-off.
After a couple of dot balls, Rana bowled a good length delivery targeting the stumps on the fourth ball of the seventh over against Porel. The southpaw premeditated for a fancy stroke by shuffling across the line and trying to scoop at it. He went too much inside the line and ended up getting deceived by the pace-off delivery to watch the stumps get dismantled. Eventually, the young gun broke into a fiery celebration and gave a send-off to Porel by showing him the dugout. In the process he was also about to blow a kiss like he did to Agarwal versus Sunrisers Hyderabad but immediately controlled his instincts, reminding of the previous retribution.
