Cricket is more like a religion in India and the cricketers are worshipped no less than gods. A similar example of such an act was witnessed in Bengaluru between Royal Challengers Bengaluru and Punjab Kings as a lucky fan breached the security to enter the field and fell at Virat Kohli’s feet.

Winning the toss and putting Punjab Kings to bat first in the Chinnaswamy Stadium, the RCB bowlers backed it up with disciplined bowling. Although the Punjab Kings batters tried to convert their starts the home side bowling unit found ways to peg back on regular occasions, thereby restricting them to 176/6 in 20 overs. As the second innings unfurled and Virat Kohli strolled out to bat, an incident caused a slight pause in play when a fan desperately entered the field of play.

It was not just Kohli who was lucky at the start of the chase after Jonny Bairstow dropped a sitter in the second ball of the innings but also a fan who was able to trespass the Bengaluru security and rush onto the field to worship Virat Kohli. The guy, wearing a white shirt and black pants was seen kneeling at Kohli’s feet with the latter trying to console him before the ground security gushed in to take him away from the scene. Although such interventions are banned from being portrayed in the live feed, the Twitterverse managed to spot this incident and buzzed through social media.
