‌IPL 2024 | Twitter reacts to Yashasvi’s ABD-like strokeplay caving into horrible dismissal

A risk can be a reward but not always do the odds favor an individual. Rajasthan Royals’ Yashasvi Jaiswal ended up in despair after throwing away his wicket while trying to take a leaf out of AB de Villiers’ book against T Natarajan as Sunrisers Hyderabad welcomed the table-toppers in Hyderabad.

Winning the toss and electing to bat first, the Orange Army recovered from a poor powerplay as Travus Head, Nitish Kumar Reddy, and Heinrich Klaasen put forward a formidable show with the willow to help their side stockpile 201 runs in 20 overs. During the chase, RR lost a couple of crucial wickets in the powerplay but saw a recovery phase with Yashasvi Jaiswal and Riyan Patah scoring fifties. Just when the young tag team was steering the visitors towards a win, Natarajan induced a timely breakthrough, courtesy of a poor stroke from the left-hander.

Having already attempted some unorthodox strokes during his innings, Jaiswal gave a go at shuffling across the stumps and lapping it behind the square of the wicket on the third ball of the 14th over against Natarajan. However, the batter went too across the line and ended up with an inside edge back to the stumps. While Jaiswal could have opted for an orthodox stroke, the fact that he got dismissed while emulating an AB de Villiers like fancy stroke, the Twitterverse exploded on his failure.
