In every major competition, it is the stars of the sport that make moments memorable and stand the test of time. So Jasprit Bumrah’s IPL 2025 debut created a lot of hype inside the Wankhede but it all came to a quick halt as Virat Kohli smashed him for a six on the very first ball he faced.

Having won the toss at home, Mumbai were handed a boost with Boult dismissing Phil Salt on just the second delivery of the match. RCB consolidated well, accumulating 33 by the end of the third over. Hardik Pandya also appeared to be under pressure as he handed the ball to the best bowler in the world.

Devdutt Padikkal was quick to get off the mark with a risky single fearing the wrath of Mumbai Indians’ spearhead. With Kohli facing Bumrah for the first since the last IPL, expectations were high. The former Indian skipper, though, decided to leave his mark on the game. Kohli made some room for himself and smashed the ball towards cow corner where it did not land until it struck the boundary on the full.

Twitterati seemed split on who to support in the match up between India’s two favorite sons.
