Sometimes an in-form batter can hit a lean patch and fall prey to brilliant bowling. Punjab skipper Shreyas Iyer had such a moment in Punjab’s home game against Chennai Super Kings when he was undone by a beautiful delivery from Khaleel Ahmed that sent his off-stump cartwheeling.

‌Riding on the back of a loss in the last game, Punjab skipper Shreyas Iyer won the toss and opted to bat first at Mullanpur. The home side had a cracking start with Priyansh Arya slamming 16 runs off the first over bowled by Khaleel Ahmed. But in a swift moment, Mukesh Chaudhary did the damage for the visitors by removing Prabhsimran Singh for a silver duck. Adding to the home side’s worry, Khaleel roared back after an expensive first over and took the crucial wicket of Shreyas Iyer.

On the fourth delivery of the third over, the left-arm pacer delivered a fuller ball on the off stump, which nipped back in slightly after pitching. Shreyas offered a tentative forward push, was beaten on the inside edge. The ball skidded past his bat and crashed into the off stump, sending it spinning out of the ground. Iyer was visibly dejected and made his way back after impressive performances in the first two matches. Khaleel was overjoyed by the breakthrough as he let out a fierce roar in Iyer’s direction. The moment didn’t go unnoticed, as fans flooded social media, praising the stunning delivery that sent the Punjab skipper packing.
