Several batters worldwide have developed their signature styles to hit big shots, and the switch hit is another exciting addition. Kevin Pietersen was among the earliest to popularise the switch hit, and Prabhsimran Singh drew inspiration from it when he launched a six using the same technique.

‌Punjab captain Shreyas Iyer won the toss and chose to bat first. Openers Priyansh Arya and Prabhsimran Singh got off to a flying start, reaching 56 without loss at the end of the powerplay. Although the spin duo of Varun Chakaravarthy and Sunil Narine slowed the scoring, Prabhsimran remained aggressive and struck Narine with a brilliant shot.

On the third ball of the 11th over, Narine bowled a flighted delivery full at the stumps. Prabhsimran switched his stance, changed hands, and connected sweetly with the ball. It sailed over the deep extra cover boundary for a massive six. The shot was timed perfectly, and Prabhsimran showed great presence of mind to pull it off. Fans on social media quickly compared the switch-hit to Kevin Pietersen’s signature style, sending Twitter into a frenzy.
