Former New Zealand captain and star batter Kane Williamson has agreed to join the Middlesex County Cricket Club for the English summer. Apart from playing five Championship encounters and ten games in the 2025 T20 Blast, he will also be leading the London Spirit in the 2025 Men’s Hundred.

Williamson, who is now a free agent in the cricket circuit devoid of central contracts with the New Zealand cricket team, will be for four months in the English summer. Williamson is the first played signed with the Hundred’s new rule which allows teams a direct signing outside their squad as part of their ten retention spots.

"I've played a bit of county cricket in the past, but not for a number of years now, so when this opportunity arose with Middlesex it was a really exciting prospect. To be able to play for Middlesex - a fine club with a rich heritage - is really exciting and something that I'm really looking forward to being a part of. There's a good balance of youth and experience in the Middlesex squad, which is great, and I'm really excited to join up with the team, meet the players in the squad, and help out wherever I can,” said Williamson.

This is the first time that Williamson will be playing the Men’s Hundred having abandoned the Birmingham Phoenix contract in the inaugural season due to an elbow injury. Previously, he also represented the Yorkshire and Gloucestershire County Cricket Clubs in the Championship history.

Arriving on the back of a poor outing with the Durban Super Giants, Williamson has a packed schedule ahead with national duty for New Zealand in the Champions Trophy before playing a part in the Pakistan Super League for the Karachi Kings. Subsequently, the classy batter will be joining the Middlesex and the Spirit for the English summer.
