The ODI series between New Zealand Women and South Africa Women saw another intense game. With this match being important for the Kiwis, Amelia Kerr led once again from the front. Scoring 179, she helped her team to chase down the highest total in Women's ODI history.

Amelia Kerr has turned up to be a star for the New Zealand Women's team lately. Whether it is the T20I format or ODI, it has been normal for fans to watch her score match winning runs for the team. This also happened in the 2nd ODI against South Africa, where the Kiwis had to win the game to keep the series alive.

South Africa Women were batting first in this game, as the team managed to score 346/6 in 50 overs. Laura Wolvaardt, Tazmin Brits, and Chloe Tryon scored half-centuries, which helped the team to reach a massive total. Earlier, no other team had managed to chase down such a huge total, but New Zealand decided to do the unexpected.

Amelia Kerr stepped in at number 3 after an early wicket. Although wickets were falling constantly from the other end, Kerr stood up for the team and scored 179 runs off 139 balls. She also received support from Isabella Gaze, who scored 68 runs, as New Zealand Women chased down the total with 2 wickets and 2 balls remaining.

Our Take

Amelia Kerr has shown her brilliance for the team with both bat and ball. Since she is also the skipper of the team, she has set an example of how leading from the front is like. With her knock of 179 runs, the Kiwis have managed to create a record of the highest chase ever recorded in a Women's ODI match.

But the ODI series is yet to be finished. Both South Africa and New Zealand will be facing each other for the last ODI on 4 April, to decide which team takes the series win. Looking at Amelia Kerr’s form, it seems that the Proteas would have to do a lot of homework before the last game.
