Rishabh Pant has been penalised after the clash against Chennai Super Kings. Although Lucknow was able to win the game at their home ground, the team had a slow over rate. Due to this reason, Rishabh Pant has been fined 12 lakh rupees.
Lucknow Super Giants made a late comeback in the TATA IPL 2026. With a win over Chennai Super Kings in the last game, the team has made its statement for the upcoming season. But the win was definitely not enough, as their captain has been handed over a huge fine following the game against the five time IPL champions.
Rishabh Pant has been fined 12 lakh rupees for maintaining a slow over rate in the game. It should be noted that this is not the first time Pant has been penalised for the same. In yesterday's game, the umpires even warned him several times but it didn't benefit them. As a result, a penalty was imposed on the field restrictions even in the last over of the innings.
Lucknow Super Giants were only able to keep 4 fielders outside the 30 yard circle. This helped Chennai Super Kings to score more runs in the final over of their innings and post a competitive total.
Our Take
Fans would be thinking that the match finished early, still Rishabh Pant was affected with the fine. But it should be noted that Lucknow Super Giants were able to finish the game fast with the bat, not with the ball. And there is no rule stating that the fine won't be taken if the team is able to finish the game early in the chase. However, this adds to the long list of fines which have been imposed on Rishabh Pant in this season.
