What Delhi Capitals Need to Qualify for IPL 2026 Playoffs?

Delhi Capitals are among the few teams which are still alive in the playoffs race. But that may not be possible for long, as their qualification would also depend on the performances of other teams. Along with that, Delhi will also have to secure a massive win over Kolkata Knight Riders.

If there is one team which is having the least chance to make it to the IPL playoffs, it is Delhi Capitals. Even though the team has less chances, it cannot be deemed that they have been eliminated from the tournament. It should be noted that even RCB qualified for the playoffs, even after having 1% chance to reach the same in 2024.

For Delhi Capitals to qualify, the equation is a lot challenging for the team. The team will also rely on the results of PBKS and RR, who are still in the playoffs race. Lucknow Super Giants must defeat Punjab Kings, and at the same time, Mumbai Indians must also defeat Rajasthan Royals in their last league game.

Along with that, Mumbai Indians must defeat Rajasthan by a good margin. If Mumbai is able to defeat Rajasthan Royals by a margin of 110 runs, things might get slightly easier for Delhi Capitals. They will have to defeat Kolkata Knight Riders by a margin of 139 runs to solve the Net run rate issue, and make it to the playoffs.

Our Take

The equation for Delhi Capitals to qualify for the playoffs is a lot challenging. For this to happen, it is not just the fact that the team will have to give its best and enter its prime form. It is also the fact that the team will have to rely on the results of other teams.
