Brazilian legend Rivaldo has urged Kylian Mbappe to leave the Parc des Prince and PSG to either Spain or England to become the best in the world. The young Frenchman is tipped to follow in the footsteps of Cristiano Ronaldo and Lionel Messi with him already upstaging Neymar in Ligue 1.

Ever since he burst out onto the stage with a talented Monaco team in the 2015/16 season, Kylian Mbappe was considered to be the next big thing. The move to PSG a year later saw him get a stage to establish himself as just that and the young Frenchman has done it brilliantly, upstaging former Barcelona superstar Neymar in the process. Not only has he become the club’s top player and marquee superstar but in the process, the 20-year-old now also has a World Cup in his trophy cabinet.

However, despite all that, former World Cup winner and Brazil legend Rivaldo admitted that few would ever take him seriously until he plays in a bigger and better league. The former Barcelona man even added that Mbappe needs a move to either England or Spain to hone his talent even further to truly take over the throne from both Ronaldo and Messi. He even went on to say that the best players need to play in the best league and France isn't the right place right now.

"There's no doubt Mbappé has the qualities to become one of the best in the world, as he is playing great football and has huge potential. He would be able to develop his talent by playing La Liga or the Premier League. Ligue 1 is clearly below the competitive level of Spain or England. With all due respect to PSG, I believe he must leave for a Spanish or big English team in the future to confirm himself as the heir to Messi or Ronaldo," Rivaldo told Betfair.

"The best players need to play in the best leagues. But I think it would be tough for Barcelona to sign him in the future, as he is very expensive due to his young age, world champion status and natural ability that makes him one of the biggest prospects in the world of football."

Rivaldo's former club targeted Neymar and then failed to make the move for their former star, instead opting to sign Antoine Griezmann. However, with both Luis Suarez and Lionel Messi still adjusting to their new attacking partner, it has caused a few problems. The club has been far from their free-flowing attacking best and Rivaldo went on to add that he doesn’t believe Griezmann can replace Neymar in the trident.

"Barca's new attacking trio, of Messi, Luis Suárez and Antoine Griezmann (MSG), is giving some good signs and showing it can work in the future, but I don't believe it will reach Messi, Suarez, Neymar (MSN) level. Neymar is a distinctive player who creates a lot of assists, scores many goals and takes control of the game when needed thanks to his personality. That's something Griezmann doesn't have yet, and even though he has scored goals already, he hasn't fully adapted to his new team's style of play. It could be a while before we see him playing at the same level as we saw for many years at Atletico Madrid,” concluded the Brazilian.
