Real Madrid are still planning for their future and their top target next summer is Christian Eriksen, with them plotting a move for the Danish midfielder. The 27-year-old has less than one year left on his current contract with Tottenham and has rejected any offers of a new contract by Spurs.

The summer transfer window may have slammed shut but Christian Eriksen getting linked with a move away simply hasn’t stopped and it doesn't look like it might ever stop. If anything, the rumors have doubled and tripled, with Football Espana now reporting that Real Madrid are plotting a 2020 summer move for him. The Danish midfielder was heavily linked with a move to Real Madrid, Juventus, PSG and Manchester United over the summer, but no move ever materialized.

Instead, the 27-year-old ended up staying at White Hart Lane even making a North London appearance one day before the European window officially closed. That effectively told the world that Eriksen was going nowhere this summer, but things may change once the summer of 2020 comes around the bend. However, the Spanish news outlet further reports that Paul Pogba is their first choice, with Eriksen being their second option.

The report adds that Pogba has been invited to sign a new deal with the Red Devils, which does reportedly include a wage increase and various bonuses. If Pogba does sign that deal, then and only then does Football Espana report that a move for Eriksen will take place.

David De Gea is inching closer to signing a new deal with Manchester United and is set to earn around the same as Red Devils’ star Paul Pogba. The 28-year-old’s current deal has less than one year left on it and that does allow him to negotiate a pre-contract deal with any foreign clubs in January.
