Jurgen Klopp has admitted that Diogo Jota will not be available for selection in their game against Norwich due to the injury he suffered against Inter and also asserted that further tests will be taken for more details. Jota suffered an ankle injury in the midweek game and was replaced at halftime.

Diogo Jota joined Liverpool in the summer of 2020 from Wolves for a reported transfer fee of £41 million that could rise to £45 million with potential add ons. The Portuguese attacker has made a significant impact at the Merseyside club since his arrival as he has scored 30 goals in 62 appearances for the Reds across all competitions.

The 25-year-old has been one of Liverpool’s best players this season as he has taken his performances up a notch by scoring 17 goals in all competitions. Jota suffered an injury setback during the English club’s Champions League Round of 16 first leg fixture against Inter as he was replaced at halftime by Roberto Firmino.

The Portugal international was pictured wearing a protective boot after the game. Liverpool boss Klopp has admitted that Jota will not be involved in their match against Norwich and cast doubt on his availability for the near future.

"He will not be available this weekend but the extent is still not clear. We need further assessment. It's something with some ligaments in and around the ankle, but not the ligament, some others. So, pretty much everything is possible in the moment; that it will go really quick and the other way around unfortunately as well. So we have to wait,” Klopp told reporters in his press conference.

"Everybody saw the picture with him in the boot. It's a normal procedure, even when you just feel something, they put you in that boot. For the weekend, for sure not," he added.
