Liverpool currently has no representatives in England’s national squad under Thomas Tuchel. With Trent Alexander-Arnold moving to Real Madrid and Curtis Jones missing out, the club’s English presence has faded. As midfield issues continue in the England Premier League, signing Adam Wharton or Elliot Anderson could strengthen Liverpool’s balance and defensive stability.

In the latest England squad named by Thomas Tuchel, there are no Liverpool players included, marking a rare absence of representation from the club that has historically contributed heavily to the national team. Legends such as Steven Gerrard, Jordan Henderson, and Trent Alexander-Arnold once ensured Liverpool’s consistent presence in England colors. However, Alexander-Arnold’s move to Real Madrid and Curtis Jones’s omission have left the club without an England international for the first time since 2021.

This follows another first earlier in the year when Liverpool fielded a starting lineup with no English players in both domestic and European matches The trend reflects the Premier League’s growing international diversity but also highlights issues related to profit and sustainability rules, which encourage clubs to sell homegrown talent like Jarell Quansah and Tyler Morton for financial gain. Despite spending heavily in recent transfer windows, Liverpool still faces midfield problems, with Wataru Endo and Alexis Mac Allister struggling for form and consistency.

The team’s defensive line, led by Virgil van Dijk and Ibrahima Konaté, is making a record number of clearances, showing structural weaknesses. Potential solutions could lie within the current England squad, with Crystal Palace’s Adam Wharton and Nottingham Forest’s Elliot Anderson viewed as ideal midfield reinforcements for Arne Slot’s side.
