Puneri Paltan’s defender Girish Maruti Ernak asserted that the comeback his team had after losing the first three games was the courtesy of the hard work they did in the past week. Puneri Paltan won 33-31 against Gujarat Fortunegiants on Monday and Girish Ernak scored a High Five in that match.

Puneri Paltan are on the mend after the setback they faced at the start of the tournament. Pune started their comeback against Patna Pirates where they won with a point difference of 21. In their last match, Puneri Paltan managed to outplay Gujarat Fortunegiants who have been one of the most consistent teams for the past two seasons. The win was a combined effort of both the raiding as well as the defence unit. The defence had a bigger impact as they scored more than their opponent. Girish Ernak was the highest scorer in defence as he scored six points. He was in sync with skipper Surjeet Singh and was even able to execute their strategies well.

“We lost the first three and were determined to do better in this leg. We’ve worked extremely hard over the past week and we wanted to make sure we play as a team on the mat. I'm happy that we’ve done just that in the past two games,” Girish Ernak said in the post-match press conference.

Even without Nitin Tomar, the raiding unit has been impressive and the young guns are contributing a lot to the team’s wins. Amit Kumar and Pawan Kadian scored six points each in defence while Manjeet, who is mainly a raider, scored four tackle points. The combination of Puneri Paltan are a lot more stable than in their first three games.

“I took lessons from the first three games, worked on them, and the result is evident,” Girish Ernak said while commenting on his High Five.
