UP Yoddha’s coach Jasveer Singh said that before their match against Jaipur Pink Panthers he advised his team to forget the past results and play to their potential which helped them win the match by 7 points. He also talked about Surinder Singh’s performance and Rishank Devidiga’s role in the team.

UP Yoddha outplayed the Jaipur Pink Panthers in the 50th match of the season as they finished the match with a seven point win. This was UP Yoddha’s third win of the season but it was a big win which will give them immense confidence.

“I told my team not to worry about the results of the past few matches. Just play to your potential. Over the past three days, we practised well and the results are evident,” UP Yoddha coach Jasveer Singh said in the post-match press conference.

Even though the first points of the match went to Deepak Hooda as he scored two points in raiding, his team wasn’t able to maintain this flow throughout the match. UP Yoddha’s raiders were patient enough to tempt the Panthers defenders and then go for the escape and this approach in their favour. The best performer in terms of raiding for UP Yoddha was Surender Gill with 7 raid points and with his help UP were able to inflict an all-out onto the Panthers when the first half was about to be over.

“Surender Gill was our designated Do-Or-Die raider today. We asked Rishank to stay on the mat and focus on leading the team. They did their job extremely well,” coach Jasveer said.

“Surender Gill was our X-factor today. We knew they would study and prepare for our other raiders and Gill would be a surprise package. He's been outstanding in training and we are pleased that he’s been able to translate that into the match as well,” Rishank Devadiga said on Surender’s performance.

Rishank Devadiga was on the mat for a huge portion of the game but his role was slightly different as he scored only 4 raid points. He was guiding the team not only in raiding but in defence as well, we were able to hear his chatter throughout the match on how he was controlling the defenders.

“Rishank ensures I remain stress-free. His leadership is an invaluable asset,” skipper Nitesh said.
